National Night Out- East St. Louis: Building a Safe and Thriving Community

Community Development Sustainable Solutions prepares for National Night Out- East St Louis in the Orr Weathers Apartment Complexes Basketball Court. This year’s event features Comedian “Sugah Man” who has performed with Ced “The Entertainer” and Lavell Crawford as the host. National Singing Sensation Lil Ralph and Anti-Bullying Dance Group Sweet Disaster will provide live entertainment. There will be free barbecue from Mixon’s Insurance and Hero’s Market, free Pirtle’s Ice Cream, a helicopter landing with no crime scene, a water slide, bouncy house, music and a dunk tank featuring Township Supervisor Alvin Parks as the one to be DUNKED.

East St Louis joins 38.3 million people nationwide and military bases around the world in celebrating National Night Out and is one of the first to declare National Night Out- East St. Louis as a Citywide Holiday last year. National Night Out is a family fun filled event designed this year to give crime a going away party while educating the public about relevant issues and services available to them. This event provides opportunity for service providers to reach their constituents through vending and direct marketing services. Vendors should call Mr. Taylor at 618-514-31 99.

This year’s public action focuses on building a Safe and Thriving Community through partnerships with relevant individuals and agencies. The focus is on reducing the prison population by at least 25 percent and providing needed assistance to returning citizens.
